UK-based zine Race Revolt will launching its 5th issue on Thursday 27th January, 2011 at the Stuart Hall Library, London EC2A 3B. Featuring a piece written by Hannah Ho Wai Ling, who is one of the creators of NZ zine Mellow Yellow, Race Revolt #5 continues the good work, bringing together diverse voices discussing issues of race, ethnicity and identity within DIY, queer & activist communities.
Melissa from Cherry Bomb Comics will be speaking as part of a panel discussion at the launch. The latest issue of Race Revolt will be available on the Cherry Bomb online shop very soon.
Happening on the same day, but in Auckland this time, is the launch of Coco Solid/Jessica Hansell's new book, Philosoflygirl. This is her first formal collection of "collages, epiphanies, illustrations, obsessions, recipes, outfits
and
brain-waves". The launch is taking place at the Fresh Gallery Otara, in the Otara shopping centre. Following this, on Saturday 29th Jan, she'll be co-running a zine workshop with Riki Anderson, which will look at the history of zine culture, and introduce the basics of making your own zine.
